It was a big week for SiSense and one of our founders, Eldad Farkash. Eldad won top prize at the World Technology Awards gala in New York City in the IT Software (Individual) category for achieving significant lasting progress with the invention of In-Chip big data analytics technology.
In-Chip big data analytics is the unique technology behind the SiSense engine and gives non-technical business users the ability to analyze 100X more data at 10X the speed of traditional solutions. In-Chip technology turns commodity machines into ‘data monsters’ and then harnesses this power to achieve high levels of performance with minimal hardware requirements.
Past winners in this category include Sergey Brin and Larry Page (Google) and Otavio Good (Founder and CEO, Quest Visual, Inc.)
I asked Eldad about this win and this is what he had to say:
“It was a real honor to win this award,” said Farkash. “When we first started analyzing the BI space, we recognized a gap in the market that wasn’t being addressed. With the exponential growth of hardware speed and capacity, we realized we could architect a major shift in the way BI could be designed, away from OLTP, OLAP or traditional in-memory. When we began working on the technology behind SiSense, there were plenty of naysayers who thought the technology was impossible to innovate.”
“Our ultimate goal with In-Chip is to fill that gap and turn big data analytics on its head and reinvent Business Intelligence. For too long, only large enterprises with deep pockets could afford big data analytics. It was crucial to me, while building the technology powering SiSense, to ensure it helps businesses of all sizes analyze terabytes of data. I am thrilled that In-Chip and SiSense are getting the attention and excitement they deserve.”
Judges whittled down nominations from over 60 countries around the world to a list of 100 individual finalists and 50 corporate finalists. SiSense was nominated for two catogories; IT Software – Corporate and IT Software – Individual. Winners were selected by the WTN Fellows (winners and finalists from previous annual Award cycles in the individual Award categories) through an intensive process lasting many months.
We are still not sure if the highlight of the event was Eldad’s name being called or seeing him show up in a tuxedo!
