We're as happy as clams here at REvolution, because Danese Cooper has joined REvolution Computing's management team as our Open Source Diva. Danese has a wealth of experience and recognition in the open-source world: previously, she created and managed the Open Source Programs Office for Sun Microsystems, and most recently was the senior director for open-source strategies for Intel. Danese will continue her role as a board member of the Open Source Initiative, promoting open-source software. She is also a member of the Apache Software Foundation and serves on a special advisory board for Mozilla.org. There's more information about Danese on Wikipedia (although it's now a little out of date).

Here at REvolution, Danese and I will be working to create new programs to better support user groups for R, and to develop new community assets. (Yes, that's a bit vague now — but you'll hear more about these initiatives in the coming months on this blog and elsewhere.) Danese and I will also be speaking at a number of venues over the summer: again, more details soon.

Welcome, Danese!
