Smart Data Collective is much more than an online magazine. Our vision is to facilitate conversation and debate between all of you - the entrepreneurs, analysts, researchers, executives, and academics that animate our community - and to provide a forum for your ideas.

To ensure that we continue to live up to the highest standards, we've asked four of our most respected member-bloggers to serve as an advisory board for the site. They were selected for the outstanding quality of their work, their expertise across the spectrum of disciplines that make up our community, and most of all for their commitment to the ideals that drive us: inclusiveness, balance, community and civility.

Watch for original, exclusive posts from our advisory board members. They'll enliven our podcast series, appear in our webinars, and cover events for us as the opportunities arise. Stephen Baker, author of The Numerati, is a journalist based in the the New York area. For more than 20 years, he was a writer at BusinessWeek magazine, in Mexico, Pittsburgh, Paris before returning to cover technology from New York. While at BusinessWeek, Baker wrote cover stories on blogs, the data analysis of social networks, and Google's cloud computing. His 2006 article, Math Will Rock Your World, introduced general interest readers to the data economy and led to The Numerati. Before BusinessWeek, Baker was a reporter for the El Paso Herald-Post. Prior to that, he was chief economic reporter for The Daily Journal in Caracas, Venezuela. Gary Cokins is an internationally recognized expert, speaker, and author in advanced cost management and enterprise performance management systems. He works with performance management solutions for SAS, a global leader in business analytics software. Gary began his career in industry with a Fortune 100 company in CFO and operations roles. He then worked 15 years in consulting with Deloitte, KPMG, and EDS. Gary is a graduate of Cornell (industrial engineering) and Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management (MBA). Jill Dyché is an internationally recognized author, speaker, and business consultant. She is partner and co-founder of Baseline Consulting, a professional services firm specializing in enterprise information design and deployment.
